Monsoon-Ready Accessories for Dhaka

The rain comes every year, and it ruins cheap accessories fast. Here is what survives a Dhaka monsoon and still looks right.

Monsoon in Dhaka is a test of every accessory you own. Rain, humidity and waterlogged roads will beat the polish off the wrong pieces. The right ones sail through.

The watch survives the rain

Check your watch's water resistance before the season starts. For everyday rain exposure, look for at least 50m resistance, which covers splashes and a sudden downpour. Leather straps are the first casualty of monsoon, so switch to steel, nylon or a rubber strap for the season.

The monsoon wallet

A wallet carried in a back pocket is one rainstorm away from ruin. Move to a front-pocket card wallet or a small crossbody bag that sits against your body. Treated canvas and synthetic materials hold up better than cheap bonded leather.

Bags that take a beating

  • Waxed or treated canvas over raw leather
  • Nylon with sealed zippers for the wettest weeks
  • A crossbody or backpack over an open tote
  • Everything inside in a dry bag or zip pouch

Accessories that ignore the weather

Steel and titanium jewellery, paracord and woven bracelets, and nylon straps all shrug off water. If a piece cannot survive a single Dhaka downpour, it does not belong in your daily rotation.

The monsoon version of your look is not a downgrade. It is an upgrade to pieces built for real life.
